Medical and Reconstructive Care and Support
CERESAV USA, Inc. mobilizes financial resources to facilitates medical trips for survivors to different countries including India and the U.S. to get the reconstructive surgical care they are unable to get in Uganda. CERESAV USA Inc. also mobilizes financial support to facilitates medical treatments in Uganda at the National Referral Hospital Mulago, and surgical treatments at the Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services Uganda (CoRSU) Hospital. With the expansion of CERESAV Uganda’s programming to include connecting survivors to medical and surgical treatments abroad, CERESAV USA is responsible for covering financial logistics to ensure that survivors get the access to care that they deserve.
Education of Survivors’ Children
Due to the lifelong challenges associated with acid attack treaments, families are forced to leave their children with little or no education. The Universal Primary Education system in Uganda does not prepare children to be future leaders. As a result the families’ socioeconomic status determines their children’s educational outsomes and prospects in life. The CERESAV Education Fund was created in 2018 to give children of acid attack survivors access to quality education in order to break the cycle of chronic vulnerability and human insecurity.
Awareness and Public Sensitization
Acid attack violence is associated with stigma, discrimination and ostracism. CERESAV equips ambassadors to raise awareness and sensitise the public on the effects that acid attack violence on the immdiate victims but also the life long secondary socioeconomic effects on families, and the community at large. CERESAV does this through hosting awareness conferences involving different key stakeholders like line ministries, law enforcement division, civil society partners and corporate sponsors. CERESAV also uses mainstream media to educate masses and advcate for zero tolerance and accountabilty from all parties concerned with upholding basic human rights for all.
Economic Empowerment
Acid attack survivors face challenges with securing gainful employment after the attacks. majority of the survivors do not have considerable education for gainful employment. CERESAV applies an Asset Based Community Driven Approach to work with survivors in identifying their areas of strength and passion, provides the necessary training and financial literacy and identifies seed grants to support qualified survivors in starting their own small businesses.

Beneficiary Involvement
CERESAV rests on the philosophy of Asset Based Community Driven approach. CERESAV employs survivors of acid violence in the different operations/programs. These participate in the overall project planning, implementation and evaluation. There are also periodic meetings that give opportunity to consult different survivors as part of planning and evaluation for the organization.
